I have a geneology ont he Merrill's dating back to 1500, from my Mom who was the daughter of Verlorous Merrill. She recently passed. In it Sir Peter Merrill is mentioned. Where can I get more information on Sir Peter Merrill??
Answer: Marcia:
We assume you are talking about Verlorous Orlo, 1870-1946. Which one of his daughters was your mother? What were her dates and who did she m.? There is no Peter in his lineage back to Nathaniel (1) [1601-1655] immigrant to Newbury MA from Wherstead, Suffolk, England. The line we have is Verlorous O (9), John S (8), John (7,6), Jonathan (5), John (4,3), Nathaniel (2,1). more details are available.
We also don't have record of a Peter among his ancestors in England. All we have seen is a Nathaniel, three Johns, and a Thomas which gets back to 1444 in the Wherstead area. While some of these connections are somewhat tenuous, we don't have a Peter in this line. We would be interested in the information your mother collected. We are always open to new information. While we are descended from a different son of Nathaniel, our line also came through Grafton Co. My great grandfather was b. in Warren.
We are trying to database the Merrill/Merrell surname nationwide from the original immigrants right down to the present day for all the immigrant lines. So far we have over 60,000 Merrill males, plus their wives and daughters in our database, but we estimate that there are well over 100,000 so we have a long way to go, and we need and appreciate all the help we can get, particularly with the later generations. We use this database strictly to try and help folks trace their Merrill roots. Be assured that no info on living individuals will become internet accessible. We would be very interested in any detailed info on the Merrill surname descendants of Verlorous down to the present day.

Hello Howard & Jean,
I just found information today on Merrill GenForum, on how to get to this site here. I have so many Merrill's in my genealogy that I'm still trying to sort it all out. The nearest ancestor in Lillian Elizabeth Merrill, daughter of Charles Henry (NH)and Mertie (Myrtie)Bell (Green)(b.7 Dec 1865) Merrill. Lillian married my great-grandfather Joseph Edward Lambert in Nashua, NH in 1899. My grandfather Edward Cecil Lambert was born of this union. Myrtie Bell Green's parents were Albert & Electa Jane (Eustis)Green. Now Electa Jane Eustis' parents were Thomas Chamberlain & Electa (Merrill) Eustis. Electa Merrill, b. 13 Sept 1812 in Hudson, NH was the daughter of Isaac Jr. & Susanna (Swan) Merrill. Isaac Merrill Jr., born 16 March 1781 in Hudson, Hillsborough, NH was the son of Dea. Isaac & Olive (Merrill) Merrill. The above people all lead back to the Merrill's of England. I still have not found the parents of Charles Henry Merrill to see if he leads back to the Merrill's of England, but I am still working on the family. I have been doing genealogy for a number of years now and have an extensive membership to Ancestry.com. I just wanted to stop in and say hello, let you know of another Merrill ancestry, and I would welcome an email anytime from you. Sincerely, Debby Lee Lambert
Answer: Debby:
Lillian Elizabeth was b1884 Apr 4 in Charlestown, Sullivan, NH and d. 1929 Jan 26, Where? Her father, Charles Henry (8) was b. 1861 Oct 19 in Weathersfield, Windsor, VT. We don't have his d. date. He and Mertie Bell Green [m. 1883 Oct 19] were later divorced, and he m. 2nd 1894 Sept 28 Myra L Robb. Charles (8)'s lineage is Richard (7), Isaac (6,5), Samuel (4), Abel (3,2),
Nathaniel (1). More details are available.
Looking at Mertie's lineage it turns out Charles Henry and Mertie Bell Green were 1st cousins once removed. Charles's father Richard (7) and Electa (7) (Merrill) Eustis were siblings, both children of Isaac (6). That makes Charles Henry (8) and Electa Jane (Eustis) Green 1st cousins, and Mertie Bell Green the 1st cousin once removed of Charles Henry.
