Duck River Dam
Proposed Dam and 650-acre Reservoir

NAME THE LAKE!

Here are some suggestions for the lake created by the Duck River Reservoir dam. Do you have one?

Name Reason Contributor
Amara Lake The word (name) 'amara' means 'eternal beauty'. I saw that a few other people wanted some of it's history to be recognized with the name; a lake is not the people who lived near it or even the people that talked about seeing it first. It's a lake.....so give it a name that says something about what it's like. Samara Loughlin
Duck River Lake   Named for the river. -
You can not only identify the lake for the present and the future but also maintain the
historical significance of the area.
Judy Reeves
Duck River Reservoir Named for the river. -
Duck's Unlimited Wildlife Preserve of Cullman County Ducks Unlimited has always been a huge support for the wetlands. S. I. Murphree
Floodland Because it is just a load of land that has been flooded it sounds good when it is a name and that is were all names originated from (what they are). Mike Holt
Lake Inconsiderate That's what this project does for everyone downstream. NO consideration for the public's right to free flowing streams. Murray Carroll
Lake Jack Sides For the mayor's contributions to its creation and steadfastness despite obstacles. -
Lake Owen Noble Owen Noble was one of the earliest settlers in the area. He owned the property where the dam will be located for approximately 80 years. He was one of, if not the most respected citizens in the community. -
Peoples Lake Since the people are going to pay for it. Vince Burgett
Tranquility Lake For the many people up north wishing to experience the peacefulness of this outdoor beauty. Kim Krichko
