MEMORANDUM
TO: Property Owners Affected by the Duck River Dam Project FROM: Cullman Morgan Water District Board
Jack Sides, Chairman George Spear Max Brown James Calvert Buford Lowry Jimmy Knight Jim Munger Buddy Fowler Don Stisher DATE: May 4, 1998 RE: Buffer Zone Meeting There has been discussion in the past as to whether the buffer zone for the reservoir of the Proposed Duck River Dam should be 100 feet, 200 feet, or 300 feet. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Cullman County Health Department have recommended a 300 foot buffer zone to protect the water quality in the reservoir. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has requested the Cullman Morgan Water District Board now set the buffer zone for the proposed Duck River Reservoir so that project plans can be completed.
As we reported at the property owner's meeting in March, affected land owners are being given an opportunity to express their opinions on this issue. There will be discussion on the buffer zone at the Board Meeting on Thursday, May 21, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cullman City Hall Auditorium. This meeting has been scheduled to provide all who wish to speak to the Board regarding the buffer zone an opportunity to furnish input before a final decision is made.
