Duck River Reservoir
Proposed Dam and 650-acre Reservoir

FRIENDS OF DUCK RIVER
Spring Get-together

[ Mailout received 22 February 1997 ]

On Saturday March 29, 1997, a meeting will be held at Holly Pond High School cafeteria at 7:00p.

The agenda will be as follows: election of officers choosing an attorney to advise our membership update on property values, and progress report

Our area should now have a higher value because of the new golf course in Fairview and the proposed new lake. Please call and give me some feed-back and let me know if you plan on attending.

At our last meeting, November 23, 1996, held at Holly Pond Park, a copy of emient domain was given to each member and a discussion on this subject followed.

Some of the other subjects under consideration were:

  1. Setting aside some of the land for recreational purposes.
  2. Consolidation of Cullman county water systems.
    • Uniformity of water rates.
    • Upgrade the system - (i.e. more fire plugs.)
  3. Recommendations for the selection of a lawyer for our organization.
  4. More county control over the dam project.
  5. Separate filtering and distribution plant, owned by the county.

Time marches on so we should get together real soon and get better organized.

Dues for 1997 are now being accepted. Please give me a call.
